The Birth of be.retreats: How One Woman’s Journey Created a Safe Space for Women to Travel ~ Written by Roshini Lal

From Solo Adventures to Something Bigger

Like many great ideas, be.retreats was born from self-discovery.

Our founder, Georgia, always loved to explore but her first solo trip highlighted a real gap in the travel market. She found herself stuck between two extremes: party-heavy hostels or high-end luxury retreats - neither offering the balanced, mindful trip she was after. She wanted adventure without sacrificing well-being, great food, and meaningful connections with both locals and fellow travellers.

Throughout her lifetime, she met countless women who felt the same. They loved to travel but often struggled to feel safe, supported, or truly heard. They wanted a space to connect, share their stories, and step outside their comfort zones - without pressure or judgment.

The more Georgia explored, the more she realised what was missing: a travel experience that combined off-the-beaten-path adventures, wellness, and a like-minded community.

And that’s where be.retreats began.

The be.retreats Birthplace

It wasn’t until Georgia was made redundant from hosting corporate retreats that she took the plunge to turn her idea into something real. Instead of seeing her redundancy as a setback, she saw it as an opportunity … and Bali officially became the birthplace of be.retreats.

Why Bali?

From the moment Georgia set foot in Bali, it just felt right. The island wasn’t just beautiful - it was welcoming, soulful, and full of life. There was something special about its energy - the way spirituality, nature, and community intertwined effortlessly.

More importantly, Bali felt safe - a place where women could travel freely, find connection, and push their inner boundaries without fear or judgment. It was a destination that nurtured self-discovery, cultural immersion, and personal growth - all at the heart of what be.retreats stands for.

From its vibrant food scene to its deeply spiritual traditions, Bali became more than just a location; it became a home - for Georgia, and for every woman looking for an experience that was as transformative as it was unforgettable.

And so, be.retreats was born.

What Makes be.retreats Different?

As of 2025, be.retreats offers up trips in 4 different locations but at its core, all the trips are focused on balance:

- Travelling while still keeping health and wellbeing a priority

- Fostering a community without losing personal space

- Being adventurous without feeling unsafe

- Experiencing culture while also feeling at home

On any of the trips, you are free to do as much or as little you want. Every activity is optional, giving women the freedom to enjoy the trips in their own unique ways. Whether it’s indulging in some fantastic food, stepping outside your boundaries, or simply relaxing and practicing mindfulness – these trips are designed with your happiness in mind.

More Than Just Travel

Through her own journey, Georgia discovered that travel isn’t just about seeing new places;it’s about the connections made along the way. It’s a space where women can step outside their comfort zones, embrace new experiences, and most importantly - be themselves. Whether it’s through deep conversations over shared meals, moments of quiet reflection in nature, or the simple joy of discovering a new place with like-minded souls, the true essence of be.retreats lies in community, confidence, and self-belief. It’s a place to feel free, to feel safe, and to just be.

And that’s what makes be.retreats more than just travel. It’s an experience that stays with youlong after the trip ends.
